New Construction CategoriesEntries are based on the final contracted cost of construction, excluding cost of lot/land. The final contracted cost of construction should be the full amount paid/owed by the client, less lot cost at completion of build. The new construction categories require both builder & architectural firms be co-submitters regardless of who enters the project. HBRACC encourages coordination between builder & architect during the entry process. If a winning entry, both builder & architect will receive an award and equal promotional benefits.

Excellence in New Single Family Home Design & Construction Entrant: Builder & Architect
Excellence in Universal Design/Build Entrant: Builder & Architect New or remodel design & construction for clients with special needs (aging in place, in-home care, wheelchair accessibility, etc...). Overall design, creative use of space, interior floor plan, flow, special needs features. A key element of this category is to show a project that combines great design with Universal Design principles. Entries will be judged on: Explanation of the clients’ renovation needs
Excellence in Design & Construction of Specialty Rooms or Buildings Entrant: Builder & Architect This award recognizes outstanding design & construction of specialty buildings or rooms, including pool houses, garages, sheds, tree houses, home offices, laundry rooms, mud rooms, play rooms, nurseries, game or media room, home theater, and accessory buildings such as garages, guest cottage, barns, gazebos, pool cabana, solar installation, etc... Consideration will be given to creatively designed to function in a particular manner, and use materials and finishes in an aesthetically pleasing way. |
Remodeling, Restoration, Additions CategoriesRemodel entries are based on the final contracted cost of the remodel. The final contracted cost of remodel should be the full amount paid/owed by the client at completion of remodel.

Sales and Marketing CategoriesBest Logo
Color or black and white logo designs are acceptable. This category is for the logo/graphic element alone, not in its application form. Entries will be judged on graphics, concept, overall design, and execution, message, and emotion communicated to the target market. Best Website Entries will be judged on graphics, concept and overall design.
Best Marketing Program, Event or Series - Associate Member Includes on-air, digital and/or print campaigns, or events. Entries will be judged on creativity, graphics, concept, overall design, continuity and execution, message, and emotion communicated to the target market. Must include at least 2 executions of campaign. Best Showroom or Sales Center - Associate Member Any building or space specifically designed as the main showroom or sales center including, where applicable, architecture, interior design, landscape design, and sales displays. Entrants will be judged on the function of the floor plan layout, use of creative imagery, strength of product presentation, and ability to create an atmosphere that increases the perceived value of the option products and promotes a superior customer experience. Design Awards- Interior & Exterior CategoriesExcellence in Interior Design of a Private Residence Entrant: Architect, Interior Designer Home types include single-family detached or attached homes. Entries will be judged on design and overall appeal, functionality of floor plan, creative use of space, quality of workmanship and attention to detail, environmental considerations (e.g. energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, etc.), Excellence in Landscape/Garden Design Entrant: Landscape Architect, Designer or Landscape Co. This award recognizes well-designed and esthetically pleasing landscapes and gardens, along with their plantings (annuals, perennials, shrubs and trees),and decorative items (outdoor statuary and sculpture, planters, arbors and pergolas). Consideration will be given to the use of native plants and other decorative materials in creative, visually pleasing ways. Emphasis on plantings. Excellence in Outdoor Living Space Design Entrant: Landscape Architect, Designer or Landscape Co This award recognizes well-designed and esthetically pleasing outdoor living spaces, including patios, decks, pools, kitchens and dining areas, along with their hardscape (site work and stone work), furnishings, and other decorative items and accessories. Consideration will be given to the use of materials, furnishings and decorative accessories in creative, visually pleasing ways. Emphasis on living space. Excellence in Green & Energy Design, or Use of Green Products Entrant: Associate or Builder Member This award recognizes the home that best integrates high-performance energy systems with the building’s architecture and site design. Consideration will be given to all certified projects including LEED, Build Green, Passive House and Energy Star, as well as to independent projects that can provide evidence of the building’s energy performance. Judging will take into account the following factors:

Individual Award CategoriesNext Gen Shooting Star
A young professional at the beginning of their career, who exemplifies leadership qualities and shows a dedication to activities which build industry relationships and promotes professional development. The Shooting Star will be awarded to one or more individual(s) representing excellence as a Builder or Remodeler, or an Associate. Include details about how the individual is crafting own career advancement through continuing education, skills enhancement, self-evaluation, etc... Outstanding Sales Person - Associate Member Entrants must be a salesperson or team employed by an associate (such as a supplier, vendor, or other company), and whose primary function and responsibility is selling goods and services to builders or consumers as related to the building industry in some way. Entries will be judged on sales achievements compared to the competition. Submission should include a description of the entrant’s experience in sales, including price range of goods and services sold (gross and net sales), responsibilities and achievements, continuing education, and any other special qualities that should be taken into consideration. Up to 5 letters of references can be accepted. Outstanding Project Manager - Builder Member Entrants must be an on-site project manager employed by a builder/developer. Entrants will be judged on interpersonal, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills, as well as any industry contributions and recognition. Submission should include a description of the entrant’s experience as a project manager, responsibilities and achievements, continuing education, and any other special qualities that should be taken into consideration. Specialty/Open Categories Outstanding Commercial Project - New or Renovated
Co-Entrants: Builder & Architect Projects may include medical, commercial, industrial, recreational, and retail buildings (e.g., non-residential) as the primary focus. Submission statement should reference certifications, awards, and recognition received by the project team(s). Judges will award points for Architectural design and overall appeal, Building envelope solutions and/or restoration, Functionality of floor plan and creative use of space Quality of workmanship and attention to detail, Use of materials (i.e. natural, cost-effectiveness, unique), Accessibility (interior) and access/egress (exterior), Environmental considerations (e.g. energy efficiency, water conservation, recycling, etc.), Special attributes Outstanding Use of Smart Technology Entrant: Builder or Associate Member, and/or Installer Entries will be judged on the most creative use of smart home technology, along the complexity and practicality of the design and integration with the overall design of the space. Outstanding Use of Local Art and/or Artisan Talent Entrant: Builder, Architect, Interior Designer and Artist Best example of integrating art into residential or commercial construction and design. New or remodeled spaces. Outstanding & Most Clever Use of Small Space Entrant: Builder, Architect, Interior Designer or Kitchen/Bath/Closet Designer Did you find yourself faced with a weird, unusual, small, and seemingly useless space. What did you do with it? Submit your solution! Outstanding Engineering Project Entrant: Builder or Associate Member Entrants will be judged on the basis of uniqueness and innovative applications; perception by the public; social, economic, and sustainable development considerations; complexity; and successful fulfillment of client/owner's needs, including schedule and budget. Outstanding Closet Design Entrant: Builder, Architect, Interior Designer or Kitchen/Bath/Closet Designer Entries will be judged for their creative organizational solutions and for their outstanding design, craftsmanship and execution. Each category is intended to highlight functionality and originality, as well as design. Outstanding Housing Affordability Project - Single or Multi-family Entrant: Architect This award recognizes outstanding affordable housing projects for public and private clients for architectural design features. Judges will assess the integration of the building(s) into their context, including open and recreational space, transportation options and features that contribute to livable communities. Excellence in Architectural Photography Entrant: Photographer May submit a range of 8 - 10 photos. More details for this new category will be available very soon. Entries must meet the State definition: a housing unit is considered to be affordable if it is created by State or Federal programs that support low- and moderate- income households earning at or below 80% of the Area Median Income. |
The following category is not part of the paid submission process. A brief questionnaire will be sent to members asking for their ideas/nominations. The BRICC committee will select the honoree, and the recipient will be announced at the BRICC awards banquet on November 8, 2018.
"Building Better Futures” Community Impact Award
This award will be given to a Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Cape Cod member and/or community leader who has gone beyond the industry and its partners, to assist in the community when and where a need has been felt.
